You can use olive oil or mayo. Have you ever tried using a deep conditioner in addition to your everyday conditioner? I have thick and course hair. About 1-2 a week I use deep fortifying conditioner by Garnier Fructis along w/ my Shampoo and Conditioner for everyday use (Dry/Damaged hair Garnier as well). Keep it in your hair for 3 mins and rinse. Another trick is to use cool/cold water when you rinse any conditioner out to help seal in moisutre. I hope you find something that helps!

My hair is really thick and course,,, do you have any tricks or remedies to make it smooth and soft?
Its all in the products that u use, they make specific ones for ur type of hair. As a hairstylist, I thin my clients hair out underneath, it takes alot of the bulk out, I use a straight razor for this, not thinning shears! They also make chemical hair straightners for white hair now. They make the hair softer, more manageable but I would recommend a professional to do this. I have quite a few clients that get this done and the results are amazing.

It depends on the chances you are willing to take. There is always the option of a relaxer, which will straighten and help make your hair more manageable. The down side is that you will have to deal with the upkeep of relaxing every 1 1/2 months or so. There is also the drastic option of getting a razor cut, but again, there is a downside to that. It changes your hair's texture and it makes it difficult to grow it evenly when you decide to. These are just a couple of drastic solutions. Good luck!
