i have tried a conair one inch thick iron thing it worked pretty good ..about 40 $
it didnt last for long though
and i had went throgh about 3 straighteners that didnt work long
so i went to the big times
i got me a nice straightener that cost about 110$
ive had it for about 7 months
the longest ive ever had one
and it works great
I have really really thick and curly hair i need a cheap but good straightener that will work good?
If you say your hair is thick AND curly there is really no such thing of a good AND cheap straightener...if I were you I would invest in a CHI or something in that price range (~$100-150) because a cheap one will not 1) last long (at all) and 2) not effectively straighten your hair. Hope this helps...but really...my friend has the same type of hair and she has been through sooo many straighteners because she tried to bargain shop...it's not worth it. Spend the money to get a quality one that will work amazing and will last. AND...a lot of the "decent" cheaper ones can actually ruin your hair. My hairdresser told me the white ceramic straighteners are the best!!

you really will get what you pay for with straighteners and needless to say the more expensive ones get hotter, straighten your hair quicker and more effectively and are more protective to your hair. cheaper ones which are not as hot will require you to keep going over and over the same section of hair to get it straight and this will cause lots of damage.
if you still insist on getting cheaper straighteners then, for the sake of your hair, get ceramic ones as they won't stick to your hair and damage it as much as metal ones.
and finally if you have thick, curly hair then embrace it. i have fine, very straight hair but lots of it and I have to spend hours in front of the mirror for the bouncy waves and curls all over the magazines at the moment. big bouncy hair is so 'IN' at the moment and a cut from a good stylist will help to bring out the best in your hair.
